Optical properties of inherently dissymmetric polyamides

Journal of Polymer Science Part A-1: Polymer Chemistry, 1971
AbstractA study of the optical rotatory dispersion (ORD), circular dichroism (CD), and ultraviolet spectra (UV) of polyamides derived from optically active biphenyl acid chlorides, and aromatic, and aliphatic diamines, was made. The optically active monomers were (–)‐(S)‐2,2′‐dinitro‐6,6′‐dimethylbiphenyl‐4,4′‐dicarbonyl chloride and (–)‐(S)‐2,2 ...

Underwater image enhancement using inherent optical properties

2015 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation, 2015
This paper describes a novel method of enhancing shallow ocean optical images or videos using a fast dark channel prior descattering method. Absorption, scattering and color distortion are three major distortion problems for underwater imaging. In this paper, we propose a novel shallow water imaging model to compensate for the attenuation discrepancy ...

Ocean inherent optical property estimation from irradiances

Applied Optics, 1997
A method is evaluated for estimating the absorption coefficient a and the backscattering coefficient b(b) from measurements of the upward and downward irradiances E(u)(z) and E(d)(z). With this method, the reflectance ratio R(z) and the downward diffuse attenuation coefficient K(d)(z) obtained from E(u)(z) and E(d)(z) are used to estimate the inherent ...

Observation and analysis of water inherent optical properties

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Inherent optical property is an important part of water optical properties, and is the foundation of water color analytical model establishment. Through quantity filter technology (QFT) and backscattering meter BB9 (WETlabs Inc), absorption coefficients of CDOM, total suspended minerals and backscattering coefficients of total suspended minerals had ...

Global relationships of the inherent optical properties of the oceans

Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 1998
We have collected data during eight separate research cruises from open ocean to estuarine oceanic environments. Inherent optical property data collected during these cruises were incorporated into a large database totaling 1914 vertical samples. The range of each inherent optical property within this database spans over 2 orders of magnitude.

Fifty years of inherent optical properties

Methods in Oceanography, 2013
Abstract This paper describes my career in Ocean Optics over nearly half a century. It was centered around the Inherent Optical Properties (IOP, the scattering and absorption properties of sea water and its dissolved and suspended materials). The paper describes the development of instrumentation for the measurement of the IOP, the applicable ...

Vertical Structure of the Inherent Optical Properties

1997
Abstract : The long-term goal of this project is to be able to predict the three-dimensional structure of the light absorption, scattering, and attenuation properties of the ocean (Inherent Optical Properties, IOP) based on physical and biogeochemical forcing functions.

Inherent Optical Properties in the Benthic Environment

1999
Abstract : The long term goals of this effort are to delineate the small scale structure of the inherent optical properties (IOP) in the benthic environment and to investigate how small scale variations in the IOP affect radiative transfer and visibility in the benthic environment.

Obtaining Inherent Water Optical Properties From Apparent Water Optical Properties

SPIE Proceedings, 1988
Modeling the radiative transfer in the ocean requires the volume absorption coefficient, a, and the volume scattering coefficient, b. These are generally not measured during ocean optical field experiments, rather one typically finds that the apparent optical properties are measured or at least derived from irradiance measurements.

Nanostructured SnS with inherent anisotropic optical properties for high photoactivity

Nanoscale, 2016
Tin(ii) sulfide is a fascinating solar energy material due to its anisotropic material properties. In this manuscript, we report on exploiting the 2D structure modulated optical properties of nanocrystalline SnS thin film synthesis by chemical spray pyrolysis using ambient transport in the harvesting of solar energy.
