Inheritance of properties of spectra

open access: yesMathematical Notes, 2010
A mechanism for the inheritance of properties of spectra by differential spectra is developed and applied to prove geometric properties of morphisms of differential algebraic varieties.

Seeing properties of an invisible object: Feature inheritance and shine-through [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We characterize a class of spatio-temporal illusions with two complementary properties. Firstly, if a vernier stimulus is flashed for a short time on a monitor and is followed immediately by a grating, the latter can express features of the vernier, such

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Social inheritance can explain the structure of animal social networks

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Social networks have important implications to a variety of ecological and evolutionary processes. Here, Ilany and Akçay develop a social network model and show that inheritance of social contacts leads to networks with properties observed in species ...

Properties inherited by ring extensions.

open access: yesMichigan Mathematical Journal, 1965
A ring \(E\) is said to be an extension of \(A\) by \(S\) if there exists an exact sequence of homomorphisms \(0\to A\to E\to S\to 0\). The author considers the problem of extending the properties of \(A\) and \(S\) to \(E\). Sample theorem: If \(A\) is regular and \(S\) is \(m\)-regular then \(E\) is \(m\)-regular. The most important result is: If \(A\

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Phase Transitions in Nonlinear Filtering

open access: yes, 2014
It has been established under very general conditions that the ergodic properties of Markov processes are inherited by their conditional distributions given partial information.
