Rapid enzymatic test for phenotypic HIV protease drug resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A phenotypic resistance test based on recombinant expression of the active HIV protease in E. coli from patient blood samples was developed. The protease is purified in a rapid onestep procedure as active enzyme and tested for inhibition by five selected

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The inhibitory effect of different surfactants on the corrosion of A335 alloy steel in sodium hydroxide solution [PDF]

open access: yesشیمی کاربردی روز
In this study, the corrosion inhibition performance of five different surfactants, including three cationic surfactants: dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (DOTAB), cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC) a ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Pyrazolone derivatives as corrosion inhibitors of copper in sulfuric acid solution

open access: yesJournal of Electrochemical Science and Engineering
This study examines the corrosion inhibition of copper in aerated H2SO4 solution using 5-methyl, 5-phenyl, and 5-methyl-2-phenyl derivatives of 2,4-dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-one (Py) through electrochemical techniques, gravimetric method, SEM, DFT and Monte ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Utilizing Some Indole Derivatives to Control Mild Steel Corrosion in Acidic Environments: Electrochemical and Theoretical Methods

open access: yesMolecules
Ethyl 3-formyl-1H-indol-2-carboxylate (FIC) and 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2,4-dihydropyrrolo [3,4-b]indol-3-ol (MPI) were synthesized as indole derivatives. The chemical structures of FIC and MPI were established through analytical and spectroscopic techniques.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A first report on competitive inhibition of laccase enzyme by lignin degradation intermediates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Laccases have been widely explored for their ligninolytic capability in bioethanol production and bioremediation of industrial effluents. However, low reaction rates have posed a major challenge to commercialization of such processes.
