The Analysis of Apoptosis in Ameloblastoma: Evaluation of Bcl-2, Bcl-X, Bax, Bak

open access: yesJournal of Dentistry Indonesia, 2015
The apoptotic behavior of ameloblastomas was studied using antibodies against the apoptosis related proteins, Bcl-2, Bcl-X, Bax and Bak. Most of the outer layer cells were predominantly stained by the antimodulating proteins, Bax and Bak. Among the Bcl-2

Fragment-Based Design of Small Molecule X-Linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein Inhibitors [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2008
We report on a general structure- and NMR-based approach to derive druglike small molecule inhibitors of protein-protein interactions in a rapid and efficient manner. We demonstrate the utility of the approach by deriving novel and effective SMAC mimetics targeting the antiapoptotic protein X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP).

BH3 mimetic ABT-737 sensitizes colorectal cancer cells to ixazomib through MCL-1 downregulation and autophagy inhibition. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The proteasome inhibitor MLN9708 is an orally administered drug that is hydrolyzed into its active form, MLN2238 (ixazomib). Compared with Bortezomib, MLN2238 has a shorter proteasome dissociation half-life and a lower incidence and severity of ...

Targeting apoptotic machinery as approach for anticancer therapy: Smac mimetics as anticancer agents

open access: yesFuture Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2015
Apoptosis is a chief regulator of cellular homeostasis. Impairment of apoptotic machinery is a main characteristic of several diseases such as cancer, where the evasion of apoptosis is a cardinal hallmark of cancer. Apoptosis is regulated by contribution

ATM in focus:a damage sensor and cancer target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The ability of a cell to conserve and maintain its native DNA sequence is fundamental for the survival and normal functioning of the whole organism and protection from cancer development.

Broad-spectrum ubiquitin-specific protease inhibition as a mechanism for the cytotoxicity of YM155 in cancers

open access: yesScientific Reports
Protein ubiquitination is a dynamic and reversible process involved in gene transcription, protein metabolism, and cellular apoptosis. Ubiquitin specific proteases (USPs), as the largest family of deubiquitinating enzymes, are able to remove the ...

Adenovirus‐Mediated Gene Transfer of Inhibitors of Apoptosis Proteins Delays Apoptosis in Cerebellar Granule Neurons [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, 1999
Abstract : The inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family of anti‐apoptotic genes, originally discovered in baculovirus, exists in animals ranging from insects to humans. Here, we investigated the ability of IAPs to suppress cell death in both a neuronal model of apoptosis and excitotoxicity.

The endogenous caspase-8 inhibitor c-FLIPL regulates ER morphology and crosstalk with mitochondria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Components of the death receptors-mediated pathways like caspase-8 have been identified in complexes at intracellular membranes to spatially restrict the processing of local targets.
