Inhibitory Effects of Orientational Adaptation*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1971
A variably oriented test grating was presented for identification in angular degrees immediately following 5-s exposure to a high-contrast grating of the same spatial frequency. The adapting grating was fixed at one of four different orientations, each located 15° away from a primary visual axis. The angle of orientation separating the adapting and the

Dual inhibitory effect of bredinin

Cell Biochemistry and Function, 1989
AbstractBredinin inhibition of cell growth was investigated in the mouse lymphoma cell line L5178Y. Bredinin caused the accumulation of IMP and the reduction of XMP. It was converted to the 5′‐phosphate within the cells. Bredinin 5′‐phosphate but not bredinin competitively inhibited both IMP dehydrogenase and GMP synthetase. Thus the inhibition of cell

Intraneuronal effects of inhibitory amino acids

Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1980
Injections of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) into spinal motoneurons (in cats under Dial) induce a small but relatively prolonged hyperpolarization (mean −1.7 mV, SD 2. 1; n = 25), which is associated with a rise in input resistance (mean 44%, SD 122; n = 34), is not reversed by hyperpolarization, and is not potentiated by intracellular release of ...

Murine cytomegalovirus-inhibitory effects of ImuVert

Antiviral Research, 1993
ImuVert, a sterile preparation composed primarily of Serratia marcescens membrane vesicles and ribosomes, was significantly inhibitory to murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) infections in BALB/c mice. Antiviral activity was manifested as increased survivor number and decreased recoverable virus titers in spleens, lungs and salivary glands.

Tumour inhibitory effects of plasmid DNA

Oncology Reports, 1997
The experiments were designed to examine whether direct in vivo transfer of plasmid DNA not carrying any 'therapeutic' genes ('empty' plasmid DNA) can influence tumour growth. Murine MC-induced sarcoma Mc12 was transplanted i.m. in syngeneic recipients and the tumour-inoculated mice were treated either with repeated peritumoral (i.m.) injections of the
