Effects of alcohol on inhibitory processes

Behavioural Pharmacology, 2008
Earlier work has shown that alcohol may have disinhibiting effects on behaviour. Two studies tested the effects of a moderate dose of alcohol (0.6 g/kg) versus placebo on tasks that evaluate inhibitory processes related to alcohol stimuli, in moderate-to-heavy social drinkers (student population). An inhibition of interference task, the Stroop task (ST;

Hydroxyurea: Inhibitory Effect on DNA Metabolism

Science, 1964
Hydroxyurea, hydroxyurethane, and dihydroxyurea inhibit incorporation of thymidine into the DNA of monolayers of HeLa cells. They do not affect incorporation of uridine into RNA or of leucine into protein. In contrast, hydroxylamine inhibits cellular incorporation of all three precursors: thymidine, uridine, and leucine.

Inhibitory effects on fast sympathetic rhythms

Brain Research, 1983
In decerebrate cats, the effects of barbiturate anesthesia and of pulmonary afferent activity (produced by lung inflation) on fast (ca. 10/s) rhythms in sympathetic efferent discharges (cervical sympathetic and splanchnic) were analyzed. These inhibitory influences, in addition to reducing overall activity, eliminated or drastically reduced the highest

INHIBITORY EFFECT OF MERCURASCAN ON LYMPHOCYTES

Transplantation, 1980
Human lymphocytes treated in vitro with Mercurascan (MSC) have a reduced capacity to form E rosettes and to respond to phytohemagglutinin. MSC was also found to reduce the capacity of mouse lymphocytes to activate the regional lymph nodes of allogeneic recipients and release the lymph node-activating factor.

Inhibitory effect of neurotensin on proline

Regulatory Peptides, 1993
The effect of neurotensin (NT) on proline absorption across rat jejunum was investigated using the single-pass perfusion technique. This study showed that intravenous administration of NT produced a dose-dependent inhibition of proline absorption. Thus, NT at a 0.16 pmol/kg/min concentration gave 10% decrease in proline absorption while 0.32 and 1.6 ...

Cardiovascular inhibitory effects of Hyoscyamus niger

Methods and Findings in Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, 2008
This study describes the hypotensive, cardiosuppressant and vasodilator activities of Hyoscyamus niger crude extract (Hn.Cr). Hn.Cr, which tested positive for alkaloids, coumarins, flavonoids, sterols, tannins and terpenes, caused a dose-dependent (10-100 mg/kg) fall in the arterial blood pressure (BP) of rats under anesthesia.

Effects of Inhibitory Signal on Criticality in Excitatory-Inhibitory Networks*

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2019
Abstract We study the criticality in excitatory-inhibitory networks consisting of excitable elements. We investigate the effects of the inhibitory strength using both numerical simulations and theoretical analysis. We show that the inhibitory strength cannot affect the critical point.

Inhibitory Effect of Valsartan on Pterygium Fibroblasts

Cornea, 2020
Purpose: Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) were shown to have antifibrotic properties in ocular and systemic diseases. In this study, our aim was to investigate the effect of an angiotensin receptor blocker, valsartan, on pterygium fibroblasts and compare this effect with that of mitomycin C (MMC).

INHIBITORY EFFECT OF AMITROLE ON SCENEDESMUS QUADRICAUDA

American Journal of Botany, 1965
The multiplication of the alga Scenedesmus quadricauda is inhibited by Amitrole (3‐amino‐1,2,4‐triazole). This inhibition is reversed by addition of adenine to the growth medium. An electron‐microscopic study has been made of the cytological changes which accompany the inhibition by Amitrole and the subsequent reversal.

Inhibitory Effect of Staphylokinase on Platelet Aggregation

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1993
SummaryWe investigated the effect of staphylokinase (SAK), which has specific thrombolytic properties, on human platelet aggregation. Platelet aggregation induced with collagen was observed following preincubation of platelets in platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or washed platelet suspension (WP) with SAK at 37° C for 30 min.
