Different thresholds have been used to determine the start of the force-time analysis during countermovement jump testing. This study examined the influence of the jump starting threshold on the reliability and magnitude of loaded countermovement jump (CMJ) performance variables.

Fast Folding of RNA Pseudoknots Initiated by Laser Temperature-Jump
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2011RNA pseudoknots are examples of minimal structural motifs in RNA with tertiary interactions that stabilize the structures of many ribozymes. They also play an essential role in a variety of biological functions that are modulated by their structure, stability, and dynamics.

Initial correlations of the multiplicative process, driven by random jumps
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1986We consider a vector-valued stochastic process, which is multiplicatively driven by the Markov jump process. We obtain a closed expression for the average of the vector process by solving the Burshtein equation for the marginal average. It is shown that the solution for \(t>t_ 0\) requires knowledge of an initial correlation operator, due to the finite

On the jumping problems of a circular thin plate with initial deflection
Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1987In this paper, the jumping problems of a circular thin plate with initial deflection are studied by using ‘the method of two variables’[3],[4] proposed by Jiang Fu-ru and the method of the normal perturbation (in this paper (1.1), (1.2)). We obtain Nth-order uniformly valid asymptotic expansion of the solution of this problem ((1.66), (1.67)). When the

Initiation of flux jump in SC composite by heat pulse
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1989Nonisothermal diffusion of magnetic flux after a heat pulse shot on the surface of SC (superconductor) composite has been studied numerically taking into account the smoothed transition characteristic of the SC. It is shown that for an SC composite with poor stabilization, the current and heat redistribution change significantly the estimations of ...

Paramagnetic relaxation initiated by flux jumping
Physics Letters A, 1972Abstract Controlled flux jumping of type-II superconductors has been used to produce non-equilibrium spin distributions 3n Ce 3+ 1 at. %:CaF 2 . The subsequent return to thermal equilibrium was examined by monitoring the magnetic-optical Faraday effect of the cerium ions.

Optimal initial conditions for eastern roll high jump
Journal of Biomechanics, 1982In mathematical models of athletic performance the competitor is often viewed as a state determined dynamic system, whose states are the positions, orientations and their first time derivatives of as many body segments as are deemed necessary to adequately describe the motion.

Controlling the Velocity of Jumping Nanodroplets Via Their Initial Shape and Temperature
ACS Nano, 2011Controlling the movement of nanoscale objects is a significant goal of nanotechnology. Dewetting-induced ejection of nanodroplets could provide another means of achieving that goal. Molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the dewetting-induced ejection of nanoscale liquid copper nanostructures that were deposited on a graphitic ...

On initial jumps for singular systems in connection with LQ optimal control
Proceedings of 35th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1998Initial jumps for singular systems in connection with LQ optimal control is considered. First, a necessary condition for optimality expressed in the form of a maximum principle is shown. A characterization of optimal gain is then developed. Initial jumps for the state feedback optimal closed-loop system are formalized.
