Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

A Return to Normality: A Descriptive Qualitative Interview Study Exploring the Patient Experience of Gout Flare Resolution

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...

Experimental application of FRF-based model updating approach to estimate soil mass and stiffness mobilised under pile impact tests

open access: yes, 2019
The dynamic response of structures in contact with soil is receiving increasing interest and there is a growing need for more accurate models capable of simulating the behaviour of these systems.

Experimental and theoretical study of replaceable energy-dissipation devices for beam-column joints under cyclic loads

open access: yesSustainable Structures
This paper presents two types of metal dampers for beam-column joints based on the replaceability design concept after an earthquake. A low-cyclic loading test of slit/corrugated dampers was conducted, revealing the failure and load-bearing mechanisms ...

Flexural Investigation Of Fibrous Concrete Slabs Incorporating Pet Wastes As Sand Replacement

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering
In this paper, the effect of polyethylene terephthalate waste (PET) on the bending behavior of one-way reinforced fibrous concrete slabs was studied. seven different percentages of PET as sand replacement by weight were used: 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 30 ...

Time parallelization scheme with an adaptive time step size for solving stiff initial value problems

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2018
In this paper, we introduce a practical strategy to select an adaptive time step size suitable for the parareal algorithm designed to parallelize a numerical scheme for solving stiff initial value problems. For the adaptive time step size, a technique to

THE DIFFERENCE OF BLOOD PRESSURE AND ARTERIAL STIFFNESS AFTER INTAKE OF ARABICA AND ROBUSTA COFFEE IN CONTROLLED HYPERTENSION

open access: yesFolia Medica Indonesiana, 2017
Potential mechanisms of caffeine promote large artery stiffness and associated with increased morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular disease. To find the difference of blood pressure and arterial stiffness after intake of arabica and robusta coffee in

Pain and Inflammation as Mediators of Tofacitinib Treatment Effect on Fatigue in Patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis: A Mediation Analysis

open access: yesRheumatology and Therapy, 2023
Introduction Tofacitinib is an oral Janus kinase inhibitor for treatment of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Using mediation modelling, we describe interrelationships between fatigue, pain, morning stiffness, C-reactive protein (CRP) and tofacitinib ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
