A novel inhaled anesthesia technique for concurrent direct laryngoscopy in rats

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Our novel nose cone anesthetic technique allows the use of gas anesthesia during concurrent direct laryngoscopy. Inhaled anesthesia not only has a better safety profile for rats, but also increases lab efficiency when compared to injectable anesthesia. Abstract The current anesthetic standard for laryngoscopy in rats utilizes injectable intraperitoneal

Characterization of inflammatory pseudotumors in a large animal model of liver cancer

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
CT images in arterial and portal venous phases of liver lesions in Oncopig. Abstract Background The development of relevant and robust large animal models of hepatocellular carcinoma is needed to test new therapeutic strategies for this disease. Transgenic approaches hold promise in addressing this complex problem. One such model, the Oncopig, has been

Establishment of a novel cynomolgus monkey model of hyperuricemia

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
We established a novel hyperuricemia model in cynomolgus monkeys (A) via oral administration of potassium oxonate, hydrochlorothiazide, and adenine mixed in fruits and vegetables. This model (B) targets uric acid synthesis and enzymatic degradation, and (C) regulates renal and intestinal excretion, thereby stably elevating serum uric acid and serving ...

Co‐Opting MBNL‐Dependent Alternative Splicing Cassette Exons to Control Gene Therapy in Myotonic Dystrophy

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a highly variable, multisystemic genetic disorder caused by a CTG repeat expansion in the 3′ untranslated region of DMPK. Toxicity is exerted by repeat‐containing DMPK transcripts that sequester muscleblind‐like (MBNL) proteins and lead to deleterious yet predictable changes in alternative splicing.

Mannose‐Modified Cationic Liposome‐Based mRNA Therapeutics for Improved Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of mTEM8‐loaded cationic liposome (cLipo‐Man/mTEM8) therapeutics for improved triple‐negative breast cancer immunotherapy. Despite triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most heterogeneous and aggressive subtype of breast cancer, immunotherapy is emerging as a promising therapy.
