Patients with rheumatic diseases and their conceptions of regular self-administered subcutaneous anti-TNF injections

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Pain, stiffness and functional restrictions of the joints are the main problems for patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases. When conventional drugs fail to delay the development of the disease the patient may require biological ...

Effect of vibration on pain during subcutaneous heparin injection: A randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled trial

open access: yesOpen Medicine
The administration of subcutaneous low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) injections frequently causes injection pain, disrupting the comfort of patients. No studies were found evaluating the effect of the application of local vibration in the management of

Retention rate of abatacept in rheumatoid arthritis patients in a real-life setting: results from a monocentric cohort

open access: yesReumatismo
Objective. Data from trials demonstrated that abatacept (ABA) has a good safety and efficacy profile in treating rheumatoid arthritis. We have studied the retention rate of ABA in a real-life cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Methods. This

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

Atomic Layer Deposition Processes: Versatile Platforms for Engineering ZnO‐Chitosan Biointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Vapour phase metalation (VPM), multiplied pulsed vapour phase infiltration (MPI), and O2 plasma‑enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) tailor Zn–chitosan (Zn‑CS) films. PEALD improves wettability and biocompatibility. MPI enhances semiconductor behavior. Antiseptic selectivity: VPM → E. coli; MPI → H. pylori.
