Welcome to the inner circle? Earnings and inequality in the creative industries

open access: yesCultural Trends, 2023
Do women and workers with a migration background earn relatively less in the core creative arts or in commercial creative sectors such as advertising? In this paper, we seek to (1) uncover to what extent workers’ socio-demographic characteristics and the sub-sector of the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in which they are active affect how much ...

Numerical simulation on the thermal performance enhancement of energy storage tank with phase change materials

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2019
The model of the energy storage tank based on multiple tubes with phase change material was established. The influence of the tube circle diameter and the inner annulus temperature on the heat storage performance of the tube bundle in the concentric ...

ABOUT ONE PROBLEM ON EXTREMAL DECOMPOSITION

open access: yesПроблемы анализа, 2021
In the paper, we consider an open problem of finding the maximum of product of inner radii of mutually non-overlapping domains with respect to the points of the unit circle on a certain positive degree 𝛾 of the inner radius of the domain with respect to ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Research on the manufacturing error control of the inner cone of the threaded cartridge relief valve sleeve

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2021
The precision machining of the threaded cartridge relief valve sleeve is a manufacturing process of grinding after carbonitriding. The shape and position error of inner cone will affect the service life and static and dynamic characteristics of the ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

State-operator correspondence in celestial conformal field theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
The bulk-to-boundary dictionary for 4D celestial holography is given a new entry defining 2D boundary states living on oriented circles on the celestial sphere.

Facilitating Intercultural Encounters with International Students: A Contribution to Inclusion and Social Network Formation

open access: yesSocial Inclusion, 2021
Higher education has become increasingly mobile and international, with many students taking the opportunity to study abroad during their studies. When they do so, forming and maintaining social networks is fundamental for their development of a sense of

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This
