Experimental endolymphatic hydrops and inner ear pressure
1996The mammalian ear acts as a mechano-electrical transducer that transforms sound-pressure waves first from air via the middle ear ossicles onto the inner ear fluids and then by the organ of Corti into electrical neural codes. Two compartments of inner ear fluids — the perilymph and the endolymph — differ in regard to their chemical composition and ...

Tolerance of membranous inner ear structures to pressure.
Sbornik vedeckych praci Lekarske fakulty Karlovy university v Hradci Kralove, 1989Pressure tolerance of round and oval labyrinthine windows and a cochlear segment represented by a part of the cochlear duct were investigated in experiments on cadaveric human temporal bones. The cochlear segment is less resistant than both the windows.
