Chemogenomic Screening in a Patient‐Derived 3D Fatty Liver Disease Model Reveals the CHRM1‐TRPM8 Axis as a Novel Module for Targeted Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, January 20, 2025.
A novel patient‐derived 3D MASH model is presented that closely mimics key disease hallmarks at the molecular and functional level and offers a pathophysiologically relevant platform for high‐throughput drug discovery. Phenotypic and chemogenomic screening using this model uncover novel druggable targets.

Organic versus mineral fertilization: Assessing of yield and quality of durum wheat in marginal lands

open access: yesItalian Journal of Agronomy, 2021
Durum wheat is often cultivated in marginal areas with great management difficulties. Organic fertilization is a sustainable agricultural practice that allows preserving the environment, but its limit can be the reduction of yield and quality of crops ...

Photo‐Responsive Decellularized Small Intestine Submucosa Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 36, September 4, 2024.
This work demonstrates an aqueous synthesis of norbornene‐modified decellularized small intestine submucosa (dSIS‐NB) and its photocrosslinking into bioactive hydrogels. Compared with uncrosslinked dSIS and collagen matrices, orthogonally crosslinked dSIS‐NB hydrogels support rapid dissemination of cancer cells and have superior vasculogenic and ...

Spawning fish maintains trophic synchrony across time and space beyond thermal drivers

open access: yesEcology, Volume 105, Issue 6, June 2024.
Abstract Increasing ocean temperature will speed up physiological rates of ectotherms. In fish, this is suggested to cause earlier spawning due to faster oocyte growth rates. Over time, this could cause spawning time to become decoupled from the timing of offspring food resources, a phenomenon referred to as trophic asynchrony. We used biological data,

Automation, global value chains and functional specialization

open access: yesReview of International Economics, Volume 32, Issue 2, Page 662-691, May 2024.
Abstract We study how technology adoption and changes in global value chain (GVC) integration jointly affect labor shares and business function specialization in a sample of 14 manufacturing industries in 14 European countries in 1999–2011. Increases in upstream, forward GVC integration directly reduce labor shares, mostly through reductions in ...

Circulating CD8 lymphocytes predict response to atezolizumab–bevacizumab in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 54, Issue 2, February 2024.
PBMCs represent important elements in assessing the response to immune checkpoint inhibitors. Their analyses through flow cytometry show that baseline CD8+, CD8+PD‐L1+, and an early increase in CD8+PD1+ peripheral lymphocytes after the first drug infusion, reliably predict the response to atezolizumab–bevacizumab evaluated by imaging in advanced ...
