Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Antibiotic Residues in Meat and Animal Feed and Their Association with Antimicrobial Resistance: Evidence from the Kostanay Region, Kazakhstan

open access: yesFoods
The widespread use of antibacterial agents in livestock production is associated with antibiotic residues in animal products and feed, posing a potential threat to food safety and contributing to antimicrobial resistance.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Robust FCM Algorithm with Local and Gray Information for Image Segmentation

open access: yesAdvances in Fuzzy Systems, 2016
The FCM (fuzzy c-mean) algorithm has been extended and modified in many ways in order to solve the image segmentation problem. However, almost all the extensions require the adjustment of at least one parameter that depends on the image itself.

Innovations in Microfinance technologies

open access: yesThe Journal of Community Informatics, 2008
An experience to implement PDA technology has been done in Mali, in 2003-2005, to modernize banking operations for a microfinance institution (MFI). This project gave the occasion to experiment the mobile technology, but also the possibility for the poor population to have access to financial services, even if they are far from a large city (rural ...
