Potential of Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated From Different Forages as Silage Inoculants for Improving Fermentation Quality and Aerobic Stability

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
We aimed at isolating lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from different plant materials to study their crossed-fermentation capacity in silos and to find strains able to confer enhanced aerobic stability to silage.

Cost Sharing in the Aspnes Inoculation Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
We consider the use of cost sharing in the Aspnes model of network inoculation, showing that this can improve the cost of the optimal equilibrium by a factor of $O(\sqrt{n})$ in a network of $n$ nodes.

Refining and reinforcing effects of TiC-Al2O3/Al ribbons inoculant on Al–Si–Mg–Ti alloy

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2022
In this study, TiC-Al _2 O _3 /Al ribbons inoculant were prepared by mechanical alloying, spark plasma sintering (SPS) and melt spinning. Adding 5vol.% TiC-Al _2 O _3 /Al ribbons to an Al–Si–Mg–Ti (ASMT) alloy melt significantly refined the α -Al grains ...

Soybean-Nodulating Strains With Low Intrinsic Competitiveness for Nodulation, Good Symbiotic Performance, and Stress-Tolerance Isolated From Soybean-Cropped Soils in Argentina

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Soybean is the most important oilseed in the world, cropped in 120–130 million hectares each year. The three most important soybean producers are Argentina, Brazil, and United States, where soybean crops are routinely inoculated with symbiotic N2-fixing ...

Integrating microbial electrochemical technologies with anaerobic digestion to accelerate propionate degradation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The aim of this study is to evaluate the integration of microbial electrochemical technologies (MET) with anaerobic digestion (AD) to overcome AD limitations caused by propionate accumulation. The study focuses on understanding to what extent the inoculum impacts on the behaviour of the integrated systems (AD-MET) from the perspective of propionate ...

Aditivos microbiológicos em silagens no Brasil: revisão dos aspectos da ensilagem e do desempenho de animais Microbial silage additives in Brazil: review of aspects of ensilage and animal performance

Silage microbiology and its control through additives Microbiologia da silagem e seu controle com aditivos

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2010
Ensiling is a method of preserving a moist crop. A moist crop can support the growth of a wide range of microorganisms, most of which will degrade the nutrient value to livestock.

Escherichia coli activity characterization using a laser dynamic speckle technique [PDF]

open access: yesRev. Cub. Fis. vol. 28 No.1E (2011) pp. 1E13-1E17, 2012
The results of applying a laser dynamic speckle technique to characterize bacterial activity are presented. The speckle activity was detected in two-compartment Petri dishes. One compartment was inoculated and the other one was left as a control blank. The speckled images were processed by the recently reported temporal difference method.
