Safety evaluation of pectin‐rich extract derived from Coffea arabica as food additive

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Food Additives and Flavourings (FAF Panel) provides a scientific opinion on the safety assessment of the proposed use of pectin rich extract derived from Coffea arabica L. as a food additive. The proposed food additive consists of 70%–85% dietary fibres (of which the major part is pectin), 4%–6.5% proteins and substances of ...

Dinucleoside polyphosphates : newly detected uraemic compounds with an impact on leucocyte oxidative burst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background. Dinucleoside polyphosphates (NpnN) have pathophysiologic roles in cardiovascular disease and are newly detected uraemic retention solutes. They were retrieved in human plasma, tissues and cells.

Interaction of human apohemoglobin with inositol hexaphosphate.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1979
Experiments of sedimentation velocity and equilibrium indicate that in the presence of inositol hexaphosphate the degree of polymerization of apohemoglobin is shifted in favor of the formation of tetramers, with a maximum effect when the concentration of the polyphosphate is 1 mM.

Organic Matter, and Particularly Phosphorylated Organic Matter, Coprecipitates Very Strongly With Aluminium

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 76, Issue 6, November–December 2025.
Inositol‐hexaphosphate (IHP) coprecipitated to a larger extent than soil‐derived, natural organic matter (NOM) with aluminium. In addition, IHP addition decreased NOM in solution, likely by binding it to minerals. ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to elucidate interactions between soil organic matter, inositol‐hexaphosphate (IHP), aluminium (Al), and ...

Spatial Overlap of Claudin- and Phosphatidylinositol Phosphate-Binding Sites on the First PDZ Domain of Zonula Occludens 1 Studied by NMR

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Background: The tight junction is an intercellular adhesion complex composed of claudins (CLDs), occludin, and the scaffolding proteins zonula occludens 1 (ZO-1) and its two paralogs ZO-2 and ZO-3.

The Effects of Die Temperature and Screw Speed on Extruded Pulse Flours and Their Application in Bread Production

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2025.
Extruded Pulse Flours: Breadmaking Applications. ABSTRACT Extrusion is an innovative technology for improving the techno‐functional and nutritional properties of pulse flours. This study aimed to optimize extrusion conditions for broad bean and mung bean flours and to assess their potential in bread making. Die temperature (135°C–165°C) and screw speed

Tertiary conformational transition constant of guinea pig haemoglobin determined from the reaction of 5,5′-dithiobis (2-nitrobenzoate) with CysF9[93]β and CysH3[125]β [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We have determined Kequ, the equilibrium constant for the reaction of 5,5′-dithiobis(2-nitrobenzoate) — DTNB — with the CysF9*93+β and CysH3*125+β sulphydryl groups of various derivatives of guinea pig haemoglobin at 25oC.

Antioxidative Effects of Defatted Rice Bran in Rats on AOM/DSS‐Induced Colon Oxidative Stress and Correlations Between Gut Microbiota and Antioxidant Biomarkers

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
Defatted rice bran (DRB), a by‐product of Thai rice oil extraction, demonstrated significant antioxidant and prebiotic properties in AOM/DSS‐induced colorectal cancer models. DRB supplementation reduced oxidative stress markers, enhanced antioxidant enzymes, and favorably modulated gut microbiota, particularly increasing Akkermansia, Lactobacillus and ...

Enhancement of CD93 expression and interleukin-8 (IL-8) production in the human monocyte-like cell line U937 in response to Taimatsu fermented rice germ gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
