Harmonic elimination of a fifteen‐level inverter with reduced number of switches using genetic algorithm

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, EarlyView., 2023
This article presents a Fifteen‐level inverter topology that has a lesser number of switches (12) and can accommodate isolated DC sources. The total harmonic elimination (THD) of the proposed topology using genetic algorithm is within the IEEE 519 standards. Further, the fifteen‐level inverter is implemented in Hardware and firing pulses were generated

A Novel Three-Step Commutation Method for Direct Matrix Converter Free From Inrush Current and Voltage Error

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
The direct matrix converter is a well-accepted topology for AC/AC converters. The commutation method should be considered in the direct matrix converter topology to avoid failures caused by the input short circuit and output open circuit during ...

Suppression strategy for the inrush current of a solid-state transformer caused by the reclosing process

open access: yesProtection and Control of Modern Power Systems, 2023
The automatic reclosing strategy is an effective measure to improve the reliability of a distribution network. It can quickly clear instantaneous faults in the grid.

A Soft-Start-Based Method for Active Suppression of Magnetizing Inrush Current in Transformers

open access: yesElectronics, 2023
The occurrence of high-amplitude magnetizing inrush current during the energization of a transformer without load poses significant challenges to the stable operation of both the transformer and the power grid, potentially leading to malfunctions in ...

An Inrush Current Limiting Method for Grid-Connected Converters Considering Grid Voltage Disturbances

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2022
To support the electric power grid, some grid-connected converters are required to ride through abnormal grid conditions, including voltage disturbances.

The Impact of Zero-Mode Inrush Current of T-Hin on Zero-Sequence Overcurrent Protection and an Improved Protection with the Second Harmonic Restraint

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
In recent years, the zero-mode inrush current of high-impedance transformer with built-in high-voltage winding (T-Hin), which has large amplitude and decays slowly, causes the misoperation of zero-sequence overcurrent protection.

TRANSFORMER INRUSH CURRENT

open access: yesPolytechnic and design, 2018

AC-Chopper-Based Inrush Current Suppressor in a Wind Power Generation System with Squirrel-Cage Induction Machines

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
This paper proposes the inrush current suppressor using an AC chopper in a large-capacity wind power generation system (WPGS) with two squirrel-cage induction machines (SCIMs), which are switched over depending on the wind speed. The input side of the AC

Analysis of the Electromechanical Characteristics of Power Transformer under Different Residual Fluxes

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
When the electromagnetic transients occur in a power transformer, an inrush current is generated in its winding. The inrush current not only affects the performance of the transformer windings, but also affects the lifetime of the transformer.
