A horizontally acquired pantothenate gene drives vitellogenin's benefit to whitefly symbiosis persistence

This diagram illustrates that the horizontally transferred panBC influences the level and localization of vitellogenin (Vg) by facilitating pantothenate production and juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis. In turn, Vg shields symbionts by suppressing autophagic degradation in bacteriocytes.

Aphid and endosymbiont sensitivity to heatwaves is misaligned across life stages

Aphids depend on the obligate symbiont Buchnera aphidicola, which may constrain thermal tolerance. Using a factorial heatwave experiment, we exposed nymphs and adults to moderate or extreme temperatures and measured fitness and symbiont responses.

Seasonal Dynamics of Community and Function of Gut Microbiome in Taihangshan Macaque (Macaca mulatta tcheliensis): Inferred From Metagenomic Data

A total of 435 non‐redundant metagenome‐assembled genomes (MAGs) were obtained from fecal samples of Taihangshan macaque across all four seasons. The alpha diversity of the gut microbiome in spring and winter was significantly higher than in summer and autumn. Matrine–Tea Saponin Synergism Involves Suppressed Detoxification and Digestion in a Leaf Beetle

Tea saponin and matrine showed synergistic toxicity against Plagiodera versicolora. Combined exposure suppressed digestion‐ and detoxification‐related processes, while silencing the trypsin gene Pver105950 and chitinase gene Pver001190 increased larval susceptibility to tea saponin and matrine, respectively.

Behavioural responses of peach potato aphid, Myzus persicae Sulzer (Hemiptera: Aphididae), to entomopathogenic fungi infected conspecifics

Myzus persicae showed no detectable behavioural response to Beauveria bassiana‐colonised agar alone. Aphids spent significantly more time in odour fields containing EPF‐infected conspecifics than healthy aphids, agar or blank air.
