Exposures to pesticides and risk of cancer: Evaluation of recent epidemiological evidence in humans and paths forward

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 152, Issue 5, Page 879-912, 1 March 2023., 2023
Abstract Knowledge of the role in cancer etiology of environmental exposures as pesticides is a prerequisite for primary prevention. We review 63 epidemiological studies on exposure to pesticides and cancer risk in humans published from 2017 to 2021, with emphasis on new findings, methodological approaches, and gaps in the existing literature.

Determination of various insecticides and pharmaceuticals using differently modified glassy carbon electrodes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2007
The applicability of differently modified glassy carbon (GC) electrodes for direct or indirect determinations of various physiologically active compounds (insecticides and pharmaceuticals) in different formulations and some real samples was investigated.

Insecticidal and Nematicidal Contributions of Mexican Flora in the Search for Safer Biopesticides

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Plant metabolites have been used for many years to control pests in animals and to protect crops. Here, we reviewed the available literature, looking for the species of Mexican flora for which extracts and metabolites have shown activity against pest ...

Population ecology of leafhopper Jacobiasca lybica (Bergevin & Zanon, 1922) (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) and its control based on degree-days in Moulouya area of Morocco

open access: yesAll Life, 2022
The cotton leafhopper (Jacobiasca lybica) is one of the polyphagous species and its control is mainly based on chemical treatments, however its bio-ecological parameters are still poorly understood especially under Moroccan conditions.

Charting the landscape of the environmental exposome

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
We describe the biological and chemical components of the environmental exposomes in three major environmental matrices that are highly relevant to human and social‐economical health—air, soil, and water. We discuss how different exposome components can interact with each other. Finally, we propose a list of outstanding challenges to be tackled to push

Analysis and optimal control of a malaria mathematical model under resistance and population movement [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this work, two mathematical models for malaria under resistance are presented. More precisely, the first model shows the interaction between humans and mosquitoes inside a patch under infection of malaria when the human population is resistant to antimalarial drug and mosquitoes population is resistant to insecticides.

Mexican consumers' attitudes toward irradiated and imported apples

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract This study centers on analyzing Mexican consumers' willingness to pay (WTP) for imported US fresh apples subjected to irradiation, contrasting it with the more prevalent postharvest chemical treatments. We collect data using a survey tool in Qualtrics designed to explore the impact of information dissemination through two distinct narrative ...

Insect‐specific viruses used in biocontrol of mosquito‐borne diseases

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, Volume 1, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Insect‐specific RNA viruses (ISRVs) are involved in a wide range of families including Flaviviridae, Bunyaviridae, Negeviruses, Togaviridae, Reoviridae, Mesoniviridae, and Rhabdoviridae, which cannot infect vertebrates, including humans. However, ISRVs can infect and replicate in mosquitoes, interfering with the replication of mosquito‐borne viruses ...

Photosynthesis Inhibiting Effects of Pesticides on Sweet Pepper Leaves

open access: yesInsects, 2020
Although a large number of pesticides of different compositions are regularly used in agriculture, the impact of pesticides on the physiology of field crops is not well understood.

Optimal Control of a Malaria Model with Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Nets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A deterministic multi-stage malaria model with a non-therapeutic control measure, the use of mosquito bednet is formulated and analyzed. The model basic reproduction number is derived, and analytical results show that the models equilibria are locally and globally asymptotically stable when certain threshold conditions are satisfied.
