RAD50 missense variants differentially affect the DNA damage response and mitotic progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
RAD50 incorporates into the MRN complex and initiates the DNA damage response. Furthermore, RAD50 promotes mitotic progression. RAD50 missense variants capable of forming an MRN complex supported the DNA damage response and mitotic features to different extents in complementation experiments, indicating these functions are separable and might impact ...

Integrated simulation and monitoring to analyze failure mechanism of the anti-dip layered slope with soft and hard rock interbedding

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology, 2023
The significant difference between the mechanical properties of soft rock and hard rock results in the complexity of the failure mode of the anti-dip layered slope with soft and hard rock interbedding.

The Global Baroclinic Instability in Accretion Disks. II: Local Linear Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper contains a local linear stability analysis for accretion disks under the influence of a global radial entropy gradient beta = - d log T / d log r for constant surface density.

The instability of stabilization [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2012
Actin filaments and microtubules control the shape of cells and organize their contents. The proteins that form these cytoskeletal polymers were identified and isolated decades ago—actin in 1942 (1) and tubulin in 1968 (2)—but we still argue about some of their basic properties. New work from Niedermayer et al. (3), however, puts us on the right track,

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

Subexponential instability implies infinite invariant measure

open access: yes, 2010
We study subexponential instability to characterize a dynamical instability of weak chaos. We show that a dynamical system with subexponential instability has an infinite invariant measure, and then we present the generalized Lyapunov exponent to ...

On the wrong DNA track: Molecular mechanisms of repeat-mediated genome instability

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2020
Expansions of simple tandem repeats are responsible for almost 50 human diseases, the majority of which are severe, degenerative, and not currently treatable or preventable.

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...

An in silico analysis identifies drugs potentially modulating the cytokine storm triggered by SARS-CoV-2 infection

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is one of the biggest health challenges of recent decades. Among the causes of mortality triggered by SARS-CoV-2 infection, the development of an inflammatory “cytokine storm” (CS) plays a determinant role.
