ヨツモンマメゾウムシの4地理的系統の幼虫の成長を頭巾について調べた。いずれも4令期があり頭巾はGAINES & CAMPBELLの式によい一致を示して成長する。成虫の体の大きさと孵化幼虫のそれとの間には逆の関係があり。幼虫期間には体の大きさと成長比との間に補償的な関連が認められた。各令期の発育日数も求めたがこれというはっきりした関係は認められなかった。
