Top-down mandates and advocacy will help institutional repositories continue to enhance open access content and delivery [PDF]
Institutional repositories (IRs) can sometimes be perceived as a low-impact method of open access delivery. Neil Stewart explains how the rapidly changing scholarly communications ecosystem stands to greatly benefit from the continued development of ...

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

Astrocytic PERK Deficiency Drives Prefrontal Circuit Dysfunction and Depressive‐Like Behaviors
Chen et al. show that the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress sensor PERK is downregulated in prefrontal cortex (PFC) astrocytes in major depressive disorder and in chronic‐stress mouse models. In young mice, astrocyte‐specific PERK loss reduces the synaptogenic cue thrombospondin‐1 (TSP1), leading to synaptic and circuit deficits and depressive‐like ...

We present Diffusion‐MRI‐based Estimation of Cortical Architecture via Machine Learning (DECAM), a deep‐learning framework for estimating primate brain cortical architecture optimized with best response constraint and cortical label vectors. Trained using macaque brain high‐resolution multi‐shell dMRI and histology data, DECAM generates high‐fidelity ...
