Determination of a Fabry-Perot multipass interferometer instrumental function

Applied Optics, 1989
Theoretical determination of the instrumental function of a Fabry-Perot multipass interferometer as a function of the single pass instrumental function is studied. The polynomial dependences between the respective parameters characterizing the instrumental functions are given. An experimental check of the theoretical predictions is also presented.

Development activities for interferometer-based hyperspectral sounder instrument

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
A development program was conducted to further improve the technology readiness level of the Generic Flight Interferometer (GFI), a candidate technology for the future hyperspectral sounder on MTG. Interferometer-based sounders have already demonstrated their performance and reliability in conducting advanced sounding tasks in recent missions (METOP-

Instrumental developments for the Sydney University Stellar Interferometer

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
The Sydney University Stellar Interferometer (SUSI) has been enhanced by installation of the PAVO beam combiner, which uses an electron-multiplying CCD detector giving a fast, low-noise 2D readout. This allows PAVO to provide wide-band wavelength dispersed beam combination, which improves sensitivity and scientific productivity.

Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer. Part I: Instrument Design

Journal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 2004
Abstract A ground-based Fourier transform spectrometer has been developed to measure the atmospheric downwelling infrared radiance spectrum at the earth's surface with high absolute accuracy. The Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer (AERI) instrument was designed and fabricated by the University of Wisconsin Space Science and ...

Folded Jamin interferometer: a stable instrument for refractive-index measurements

Optics Letters, 1996
A novel two-beam interferometer for the measurement of a refractive index or its induced changes is described. This interferometer consists of only two optical elements and is largely insensitive to their movement. A laboratory prototype has been built.

Space interferometer mission (SIM) instrument design concepts

1999 IEEE Aerospace Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.99TH8403), 1999
SIM is a 12 meter baseline interferometer to be built as part of the NASA Origins program, designed to fly in space and provide high precision astrometry measurements of astronomical objects. SIM will provide angular measurements three orders of magnitude more precise than current space or ground based sensors, allowing the indirect detection of Earth ...

Ground-based airglow imaging interferometer Part 1: instrument and observation

Applied Optics, 2013
A ground-based airglow imaging interferometer (GBAII) is proposed to measure simultaneously the temperature and wind in the mesopause region by using airglow emissions of the O2(0-1) band. Since it employs a wide angle Michelson interferometer with a large air gap, combined with the rotational temperature measurement, both the phase and spectral ...

Far-infrared Interferometer Instrument Simulator (FIInS)

2016
The Far-infrared Interferometer Instrument Simulator, FIInS, is an instrument simulator for a Far-infrared Spectro-Spatial Interferometer. The main goal is to simulate both the input and the output of such a system, and compare the input sky map with the synthesised one after data processing algorithms have been applied.

Interferometer instrument design for New Millennium Deep Space 3

SPIE Proceedings, 1998
Deep Space 3 will fly a stellar optical interferometer on three separate spacecraft in heliocentric orbits: one spacecraft for the Michelson beam combining optics, and two spacecraft for each of the starlight apertures. The spacecraft will formation fly to relative spacecraft distances from 100 meters to 1 kilometer, enabling an instrument resolution ...
