Study on the DC Discharge Model of Insulators Polluted by Typical Components Based on Effective Salt Deposit Density

open access: yesEnergies
Pollution flashover accidents of transmission line insulators have a wide impact and low reclosing success rates, posing a serious threat to the safe and stable operation of the power grid.

Integrated corner mirrors physically micromachined in silica-on-silica

open access: yes, 2011
In integrated photonics, compact redirection of light can be achieved by corner (turning) mirrors, providing a route to higher density optical components.

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.

Hot‐Film and Calorimetric Methods With Transient Heating for Measurement of High Biofluid Flow Rate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Accurate measurement of biofluid flow rate is vital for clinical diagnostics. We propose a transient heating strategy using short thermal pulses and peak temperature tracking to enhance the flow sensitivity of the hot‐Film and calorimetric methods. Simulations show how optimal heating time maximizes sensitivity across flow rates.

MODELING OF OVERHEAD TRANSMISSION LINES FOR LIGHTNING OVERVOLTAGE CALCULATIONS MODELACIÓN DE LÍNEAS AÉREAS DE TRANSMISIÓN PARA EL CÁLCULO DE SOBRETENSIONES ORIGINADAS POR EL RAYO

open access: yesIngeniare: Revista Chilena de Ingeniería, 2010
Several parts of an overhead transmission line have to be included in a model adequate for lightning overvoltage studies: wires (shield wires and phase conductors), towers, grounding, insulator strings and air clearances.

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...
