Contamination performance of HVDC station post insulators

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1988
The effect of shed configuration on the contamination performance of post insulators for HVDC converter stations is reported. Field measurements of contamination severity are used to define the contaminant levels utilized in artificial contamination tests made with the clean fog method.

Contamination Flashover Performance of Insulators for UHV

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1978
The results of contamination tests performed on suspension insulators and posts in a fog chamber at 60 Hz voltages up to 1450/ 13 kV are reported. Data are presented on the flashover voltage of single standard and antifog insulator strings as long as 11.5m.

Simulation Study on the Influence of Electric Field on Contamination Accumulation Characteristics of Insulator

International Conference on Electrical Materials and Power Equipment, 2019
When it comes to safety accidents in power system, pollution flashover often causes more economic loss because of its large impact area and long impact time. To understand the contamination characteristics of insulators and predict the state of pollution,

Measurement of Saturated Water Absorption of the Contamination Layer Deposited on Insulator Surface

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2019
Pollution accumulation and the wetting of the contamination layer subsequently formed on the insulator surface are two important factors influencing the pollution flashover of the insulators.

An artificial contamination method for composite insulators

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2000
Summary form only given, as follows. In order to better simulate the natural pollution accumulation on composite insulators, a new artificial contamination method has been developed. It is based on mixing dry contamination particles with a low amount of atomized salt solution by means of a specially designed mixing nozzle.

Studies on metallurgical contamination accumulation characteristics on ceramic insulator of 500 kV AC transmission line

IET Science, Measurement & Technology, 2019
The composition of metallurgical contamination is rather special, which has a great influence on the contamination accumulation and flashover characteristics of the insulators.

Performance and Diagnostics of Biologically Contaminated Insulators

2006 IEEE 8th International Conference on Properties and applications of Dielectric Materials, 2006
Biological growth has been observed on insulators installed all over the world. However, so far, its impact on insulator performance is not well known. This paper summarizes a majority of the work published in the field. Based on the gathered experiences, it can be concluded that microbiological growth is unlikely to cause severe degradation of the ...

Contamination Level Assessment in Porcelain Disc Insulator using Detrended Fluctuation Analysis

2019 IEEE 4th International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON), 2019
Power system networks mainly use porcelain disc insulators for insulating live conductor from supporting structure. Insulators, used in power system network are generally employed for open-environment applications.
