Contamination performance of HVDC station post insulators
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1988The effect of shed configuration on the contamination performance of post insulators for HVDC converter stations is reported. Field measurements of contamination severity are used to define the contaminant levels utilized in artificial contamination tests made with the clean fog method.

Contamination Flashover Performance of Insulators for UHV
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1978The results of contamination tests performed on suspension insulators and posts in a fog chamber at 60 Hz voltages up to 1450/ 13 kV are reported. Data are presented on the flashover voltage of single standard and antifog insulator strings as long as 11.5m.

An artificial contamination method for composite insulators

In order to better simulate the natural pollution accumulation on composite insulators, a new artificial contamination method has been developed. It is based on mixing dry contamination particles with a low amount of atomized salt solution by means of a specially designed mixing nozzle.
