Feasibility study on application of microwave radiometry to monitor contamination level on insulator materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper introduces a novel method for monitoring contamination levels on high voltage insulators based on microwave radiometry. Present contamination monitoring solutions for high voltage insulators are only effective in predicting flashover risk when

Study on the Contamination Characteristics of V-Type Double Suspension Rod Insulators Based on the Influence of Wake Flow

open access: yes, 2022
The insulators of the catenary of the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-speed Railway in windy areas suffer from serious contamination, which has led to frequent flashover accidents.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Intelligent Recognition of Insulator Contamination Grade Based on the Deep Learning of Ultraviolet Discharge Image Information

open access: yes, 2020
In order to achieve the noncontact detection of the contamination grade of insulators and to provide guidance for preventing the contamination flashover of insulators based on the pollution state, we propose a contamination grade recognition method based

Simulation Study on the Effects of DC Electric Field on Insulator Surface Pollution Deposit

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Energized insulator’s surface contamination is greatly affected by its electric field properties. However, few reports about the electric field influencing mechanism on the pollution deposition have been presented.

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Three-dimensional electric field simulation and flashover path analysis of ice-covered suspension insulators

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2019
Flashover of ice-covered insulators seriously affects the safe operation of transmission lines. It is necessary to study the electric field distribution for flashover analysis of ice-covered insulators.

Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...
