Electrical insulator defect detection with incomplete annotations and imbalanced samples

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution
Insulators are one of the key components in high‐voltage power systems that prevent transmission lines from grounding. Since they are exposed to different kinds of harsh environments and climates, periodic inspection is indispensable for the safety and ...

Influence of tower anticorrosion coating as contaminant on operation characteristics of composite insulator

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2018
Anticorrosion coatings are commonly applied to prevent rust-based corrosion in transmission towers. Unfortunately, anticorrosion coatings may drip onto the surface of composite insulators during the construction process, which is likely to do harm to ...

Evaluation of dielectric strength of SiR/TiO(2) composites using feed-forward neural network

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, 2020
Among the recently insulating materials broadly utilized in high voltage outdoor insulation, silicone rubber (SiR) has gotten the foremost consideration. Actually, SiR is becoming an efficient countermeasure to insulator contamination issues.

Defect‐Mediated Scintillation in Fully Inorganic Perovskites via Water‐Induced 0D/3D Phase Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reproducible synthesis to control 3D/0D phase ratios via water‐tuned solvent–antisolvent methods is presented. Enhanced scintillation yield and ultrafast decay are achieved. Defect‐driven emission mechanisms are revealed through cathodoluminescence and radioluminescence, shedding light on the underexplored role of the 0D Cs4PbBr6 and mixed 0D/3D ...

Backbone Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Efficient Sacrificial Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, a ‘single‐component’ organic semiconductor photocatalyst is presented in which a molecular donor is bonded to a polymer acceptor. The resultant material demonstrates exceptional photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution in aqueous triethylamine with an outstanding external quantum efficiency of 38% at 420 nm.

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Filling of the Mott-Hubbard gap in the high temperature photoemission spectrum of (V_0.972Cr_0.028)_2O_3

open access: yes, 2004
Photoemission spectra of the paramagnetic insulating (PI) phase of (V_0.972Cr_0.028)_2O_3, taken in ultra high vacuum up to the unusually high temperature (T) of 800 K, reveal a property unique to the Mott-Hubbard (MH) insulator and not observed ...

The Realization of Multidirectional, Free‐Standing 3D Plasmonic Nanostructures via 3D Nanoprinting: A Case Study of Fractal Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free‐standing plasmonic gold‐based fractal antennas are fabricated by 3D nanoprinting, employing focused electron beam induced deposition and an optimized purification method to remove carbon while conserving structural fidelity. Simulation and experiment show broadband plasmonic activity, including customizable polarizability, thereby paving the way ...
