Identification of PK-PD Insulin Models using Experimental GIR Data [PDF]
We present a method to estimate parameters in pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) models for glucose insulin dynamics in humans. The method combines 1) experimental glucose infusion rate (GIR) data from glucose clamp studies and 2) a PK-PD model to estimate parameters such that the model fits the data.

Glucagon and insulin production in pancreatic cells modeled using Petri nets and Boolean networks [PDF]
Diabetes is a civilization chronic disease characterized by a constant elevated concentration of glucose in the blood. Many processes are involved in the glucose regulation, and their interactions are very complex. To better understand those processes we set ourselves a goal to create a Petri net model of the glucose regulation in the whole body.

CHoKI-based MPC for blood glucose regulation in Artificial Pancreas [PDF]
This work presents a Model Predictive Control (MPC) for the artificial pancreas, which is able to autonomously manage basal insulin injections in type 1 diabetic patients. Specifically, the MPC goal is to maintain the patients' blood glucose level inside the safe range of 70-180 mg/dL, acting on the insulin amount and respecting all the imposed ...

Exploring Analytical Methods for Glucose-Sensitive Membranes in Closed-Loop Insulin Delivery Using Akbar Ganji's Approach [PDF]
The research explores a novel mathematical model for closed loop insulin delivery systems, featuring a glucose sensitive membrane. It employs a sophisticated framework of nonlinear reaction diffusion equations and enzyme kinetics. Central to the study is the development of analytical solutions for the glucose, gluconic acid, and oxygen concentrations ...

Blood Glucose Level Prediction in Type 1 Diabetes Using Machine Learning [PDF]
Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks and destroys insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas, resulting in little to no insulin production. Insulin helps glucose in your blood enter your muscle, fat, and liver cells so they can use it for energy or store it for later use.
