Successful treatment of young infants presenting Neonatal Diabetes Mellitus with continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion before genetic diagnosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Aims: Neonatal diabetes mellitus (NDM) is defined as hyperglycemia and impaired insulin secretion with onset within 6 months of birth. While rare, NDM presents complex challenges regarding the management of glycemic control.

MXene Wrapped Magnetic Mesocrystals for Durable Redox Catalytic Cancer Therapy and Responsive MRI

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conformal wrapping of ultrathin Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets on Fe3O4 mesocrystals creates topology‐stabilized Schottky junctions that direct photoinduced electron transfer under NIR irradiation. The unique architecture sustains Fenton catalysis, promotes continuous hydroxyl radical production, and provides photo‐responsive MRI contrast.

Efficacy and Safety of Automated Insulin Delivery Systems in Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes & Metabolism Journal
Background Automated insulin delivery (AID) systems studies are upsurging, half of which were published in the last 5 years. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of AID systems in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Methods We searched

Chamber‐Specific Decellularized Extracellular Matrices Differentially Modulate Cardiomyocyte Subtypes to Drive Engineered Heart Tissue Development and Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chamber‐specific decellularized extracellular matrices (ECMs) were developed, preserving native proteomic profiles of ventricular and atrial myocardium. These innate biochemical cues differentially modulate cardiomyocyte subtypes to drive engineered heart tissue development and function, highlighting the importance of incorporating regional ECM cues in

Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Pulsed Micro Flows Pertinent to Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (CSII) Therapy

open access: yes, 2010
Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) therapy, also known as insulin pump therapy, has become an important advancement in diabetes therapy to improve the quality of life for millions of diabetes patients. Insulin delivery failures caused by the

Coaxially Electrospun Myocardial dECM‐ Based Nanofibrous Scaffolds Demonstrate Enhanced Cardiomyocyte Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Our coaxial electrospinning system is capable of incorporating decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix in a core‐sheath configuration, creating nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds, in turn, support the maintenance of functional cardiomyocytes adhered to the surface of these bioactive scaffolds.

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

Efficacy of MiniMed™ 780G® on glucose management, sleep quality, and psychological aspects in persons with type 1 diabetes treated with MiniMed™ 770G®: A 3‐month prospective single‐center observational study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation
Aims/Introduction The MiniMed™ 780G® is effective for improving glycemic control; however, few studies have specifically examined the impact of upgrading from MiniMed™ 770G® to MiniMed™ 780G® in adults. We determined the effects of upgrading from MiniMed™

Understanding safety differently: developing a model of resilience in the use of intravenous insulin infusions in hospital in-patients—a feasibility study protocol

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2019
Background Intravenous insulin infusions are considered the treatment of choice for critically ill patients and non-critically ill patients with persistent raised blood glucose who are unable to eat, to achieve optimal blood glucose levels.

Packed for Ossification: High‐Density Bioprinting of hPDC Spheroids in HAMA Toward Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Human periosteum‐derived cell spheroids bioprinted at high density within a hyaluronic acid matrix promote fusion and hypertrophic cartilage formation in vitro. Early encapsulation enhances spheroid interaction and matrix maturation, generating scalable cartilage templates intended for endochondral bone regeneration.
