A shrinkage‐resistant hydrogel is developed to confer post‐fabrication shape fidelity. The hydrogel, based on recombinant spider silk protein eADF4(C16)‐RGD and collagen‐I, exhibits tunable mechanical properties and shrink‐resistance in the presence of fibroblasts as well as muscle cells.

Vitamin D Signaling through Induction of Paneth Cell Defensins Maintains Gut Microbiota and Improves Metabolic Disorders and Hepatic Steatosis in Animal Models. [PDF]
Metabolic syndrome (MetS), characterized as obesity, insulin resistance, and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD), is associated with vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency in epidemiological studies, while the underlying mechanism is poorly addressed.

An Analytical Approach for Insulin-like Growth Factor Receptor 1 and Mammalian Target of Rapamycin Blockades in Ewing Sarcoma [PDF]
We present preliminary results that quantify network robustness and fragility of Ewing sarcoma (ES), a rare pediatric bone cancer that often exhibits de novo or acquired drug resistance. By identifying novel proteins or pathways susceptible to drug targeting, this formalized approach promises to improve preclinical drug development and may lead to ...

Bayesian Experimental Design for Oral Glucose Tolerance Tests (OGTT) [PDF]
OGTT is a common test, frequently used to diagnose insulin resistance or diabetes, in which a patient's blood sugar is measured at various times over the course of a few hours. Recent developments in the study of OGTT results have framed it as an inverse problem which has been the subject of Bayesian inference. This is a powerful new tool for analyzing

Comparison of reaction networks of insulin signaling [PDF]
Understanding the insulin signaling cascade provides insights on the underlying mechanisms of biological phenomena such as insulin resistance, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and cancer. For this reason, previous studies utilized chemical reaction network theory to perform comparative analyses of reaction networks of insulin signaling in healthy (INSMS:
