Topological field theories and integrable models
Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1997We show that the classical non-Abelian pure Chern–Simons action is related to nonrelativistic models in (2+1) dimensions, via reductions of the gauge connection in Hermitian symmetric spaces. In such models the matter fields are coupled to gauge Chern–Simons fields, associated with the isotropy subgroup of the considered symmetric space.

Divergent Integrals in Renormalizable Field Theories
Physical Review, 1951The proofs of the renormalization of the theories of scalar and pseudoscalar mesons in scalar interaction with nucleons and with the electromagnetic field, given previously by the author, depended on a certain subtraction procedure. A general proof is here given that this subtraction procedure, when applied to a divergent integral in the $S$ matrix of ...

Functional integrals in field theory
Soviet Physics Journal, 1990Chronological vacuum mean quantum fields are constructed as states in appropriate commutative tensor algebras, which permits representing their generating functionals as Fourier transforms of measures in spaces of classical fields. These measures belong to a broader class than the functional integrals ordinarily applied in quantum field theory.

Path Integrals in Field Theory
1996Up to now we have investigated systems possessing one (q) or several (q α α = 1,...,D) degrees of freedom and studied their quantization using path integrals. In this chapter we will pass over to (relativistic) field theories, starting with the case of a scalar neutral field o(x). When discussing canonical quantization we already noticed that the field

An Integrated Experiment in Field Theory
International Journal of Electrical Engineering & Education, 1989The various means available for the solution of field problems are reviewed and the solutions for a simple problem, that of the fringing field between the pole and armature of an electric machine, obtained using three methods; direct field plotting, Schwartz-Christoffel transformation and finite elements are presented.

Integrable Quantum Field Theories
2009Abstract An integrable quantum field theory is characterized by an infinite number of conserved charges. In classical mechanics, the existence of a sufficient number of integrals of motion allows us to pass from the initial coordinates and momenta to the angle-action variables, thus finding the exact solution of the equation of motion by

Problem-Based Learning: An Integration of Theory and Field
Journal of Social Work Education, 2004Abstract This article comments on the weaknesses of conventional field education models and presents a problem-based learning (PBL) model piloted at the University of Hong Kong. The PB Lprogram has three components: paper cases, skills workshops, and field project. Its aim is to help students integrate social work theories with practice and build their
