Discrete mathematical model of the scattering process of E-polarized wave on a periodic impedance grating

open access: yesVisnik Harkivsʹkogo Nacionalʹnogo Universitetu im. V.N. Karazina. Cepiâ Matematika, Prikladna Matematika i Mehanika, 2019
The method of numerical modeling of wave scattering by periodic impedance grating is considered. In the case of a harmonic dependence of the field on time and the uniformity of the structure along a certain axis, the three-dimensional problem reduces to ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

INTEGRAL TRANSFORMATION FOR THE THIRD BOUNDARY-VALUE PROBLEM OF NON-STATIONARY HEAT CONDUCTIVITY WITH A CONTINUOUS SPECTRUM OF EIGENVALUES

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2017
The mathematical theory of constructing an integral transformation and the inversion formula for it for the third boundary value problem in a domain with a continuous spectrum of eigenvalues are developed.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The Control Problem for a Heat Conduction Equation with Neumann Boundary Condition

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki
Previously, boundary control problems for a heat conduction equation with Dirichlet boundary condition were studied in a bounded domain. In this paper, we consider the boundary control problem for the heat conduction equation with Neumann boundary ...

Boundary value problem with integral condition for a Blasius type equation

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2016
The steady motion in the boundary layer along a thin flat plate, which is immersed at zero incidence in a uniform stream with constant velocity, can be described in terms of the solution of the differential equation x'''= -xx'', which satisfies the ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Distribution of the critical and other points in boundary problems with nonlocal boundary condition

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2007
In this paper the Sturm–Liouville problem with one classical and other nonlocal two-point or integral boundary condition is investigated. There are critical points of the characteristic function analysed.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
