Integrating forest-oriented recreation with timber growing –a case study of economic factors

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1968
California's affluent, growing population is using more outdoor recreation services than ever before. Camping, for example, has increased at a phenomenal rate since the war and more people are investing in summer and weekend vacation homes in such areas ...

The SOX11 transcription factor is a critical regulator of basal-like breast cancer growth, invasion, and basal-like gene expression. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Basal-like breast cancers (BLBCs) are aggressive breast cancers associated with poor survival. Defining the key drivers of BLBC growth will allow identification of molecules for targeted therapy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Integrating socio-demographic factors for equitable resilience in networked-urban infrastructure systems

open access: yesnpj Urban Sustainability
While resilience assessments have begun considering equity, many fail to account for the nuanced impacts of infrastructure disruptions on sub-populations.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Agent-based modeling and integration of system dynamics simulation approaches [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی و مدیریت ساخت, 2020
On the one hand, the amount of productivity in construction projects is influenced by different factors with continuous behavior over time, and on the other hand, by the interaction and interaction between the human resources present in the project.

Integrating success factors and group attitudes into the valuation of a company [PDF]

open access: yes
In the process of valuation of a company usually a number of experts work together in a team. The valuation formulas are usually based on several financial figures like the expected discounted cash flows and the expected cost of capital.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
