Quantification of upper limb position sense using an exoskeleton and a virtual reality display

open access: yesJournal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation, 2018
Background Proprioceptive sense plays a significant role in the generation and correction of skilled movements and, consequently, in most activities of daily living. We developed a new proprioception assessment protocol that enables the quantification of

Stop the Integration Principle? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Lord Slynn of Hadley is probably not primarily known as an environmental lawyer. His contributions to the development of European environmental law are, however, considerable. On May 24, 1988, Slynn delivered his famous opinion in the so-called Danish

Integrating the Integration

open access: yesJournal of Problem Based Learning in Higher Education, 2023
This paper provides a conceptual elaboration of the role of Problem-based Learning (PBL) in the integration of social sciences and humanities (SSH) with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and an analysis of the challenges this brings about.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A classifier-assisted evolutionary algorithm with knowledge transfer for expensive multitasking problems

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems
Surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms provide an effective means for complex and computationally expensive optimization problems. However, due to the scarcity of training samples, the prediction accuracy of frequently-used regression surrogate ...

Institutional aspects of economic integration – economic integration and political integration [PDF]

open access: yes
Economic integration is defined as the elimination of economic borders between two or more savings. In turn, an economic border demarcation over which any actual or potential mobility of goods, services and factors of production and communication flows ...

Varieties of Cognitive Integration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Extended cognition theorists argue that cognitive processes constitutively depend on resources that are neither organically composed, nor located inside the bodily boundaries of the agent, provided certain conditions on the integration of those processes

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Ohmic Contacts With Ultra-Low Optical Loss on Heavily Doped n-Type InGaAs and InGaAsP for InP-Based Photonic Membranes

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
In this paper, we present significant reductions of optical losses and contact resistances in AgGe-based ohmic contacts to InP membranes. Due to the high solubility of Si in InGaAs and InGaAsP, heavily doped n-type contact layers are grown on InP wafers.
