Reducing the Risk of Human Space Missions with INTEGRITY

open access: yes, 2003
The INTEGRITY Program will design and operate a test bed facility to help prepare for future beyond-LEO missions. The purpose of INTEGRITY is to enable future missions by developing, testing, and demonstrating advanced human space systems. INTEGRITY will

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Genetic determinants of white matter integrity in bipolar disorder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Bipolar disorder is a heritable psychiatric disorder, and several of the genes associated with bipolar disorder and related psychotic disorders are involved in the development and maintenance of white matter in the brain. Patients with bipolar disorder

Influence of input variables on the unitary deformation experienced in pipes subjected to the action of lateral loads

open access: yesDyna
The hydrocarbon transportation industry uses extensive pipeline networks subject to complex loading conditions. The finite element analysis (FEA) has proven to be effective in simulating the deformation behavior in these pipelines, which assists in the ...

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Blockchain-Based Evidence Trustworthiness System in Certification

open access: yesJournal of Cybersecurity and Privacy
Digital evidence is a critical component in today’s organizations, as it is the foundation on which any certification is based. This paper presents a risk assessment of evidence in the certification domain to identify the main security risks. To mitigate

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework needs headline indicators that can actually monitor forest integrity

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Ecology
Intact native forests under negligible large-scale human pressures (i.e. high-integrity forests) are critical for biodiversity conservation. However, high-integrity forests are declining worldwide due to deforestation and forest degradation.
