An Aristotelian Critique to Contemporary Virtue Epistemology

open access: yesPrincipia: An International Journal of Epistemology
This paper aims to offer an Aristotelian critique of virtue epistemology, particularly of the way virtue epistemologists use the concept of intellectual virtue in their definitions of knowledge.

The Epistemic Good of Epistemic Responsibilist Virtues

open access: yesHumana.Mente: Journal of Philosophical Studies, 2021
The question of whether it is a necessary feature of intellectual virtues that they lead to a higher ratio of true to false beliefs has been a continuous controversy.

Virtue Epistemology and Developing Intellectual Virtue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Virtue theorists have recently been focusing on the important question of how virtues are developed, and doing so in a way that is informed by empirical research from psychology. However, almost all of this recent work has dealt exclusively with moral virtues. In this paper, we present three empirically-informed accounts of how virtues can be developed,

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

From Fiber Bundles to Architected Membranes: Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Architectures for Biohybrid Artificial Lungs

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) membranes offer an architecture‐driven alternative to hollow fiber bundles in artificial lungs. Multiphysics simulations and endothelialized prototypes show that the 3D‐printable membrane architecture improves gas exchange, blood flow distribution, and hemocompatibility, enabling ...

Epistemic justice as a virtue in hermeneutic psychotherapy [PDF]

open access: yesFilozofija i Društvo, 2017
The value turn in epistemology generated a particularly influential new position - virtue epistemology. It is an increasingly influential epistemological normative approach that opts for the intellectual virtues of the epistemic agent, rather ...

Erratum to: Perseverance as an intellectual virtue [PDF]

open access: yesSynthese, 2014
Much recent work in virtue epistemology has focused on the analysis of such intellectual virtues as responsibility, conscientiousness, honesty, courage, open-mindedness, firmness, humility, charity, and wisdom. Absent from the literature is an extended examination of perseverance as an intellectual virtue. The present paper aims to fill this void.

Engineering the Assembly Freedom of Donor–Acceptor Type Self‐Assembled Monolayers Toward Efficient and Stable Flexible Perovskite Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Assembly freedom engineering breaks the vertical alignment constraint of donor–acceptor self‐assembled monolayers, tuning their assembly freedom to achieve quasi‐random molecular orientation. This strategy simultaneously boosts interfacial charge transport and mechanical robustness, enabling high‐efficiency and mechanically stable flexible perovskite ...

A Case for an Historical Vice Epistemology

open access: yesHumana.Mente: Journal of Philosophical Studies, 2021
This paper encourages greater engagement between contemporary vice epistemology and the work of intellectual and social historians of the vices. I argue that studies of the nature and significance of epistemic vices and faliings can be enriched by ...
