Bonheur et unification des vertus chez Aristote

open access: yesRevista de Filosofia Antiga, 2007
The main problem studied here is the Aristotelian doctrine of the unity of virtues. Aristotle accepts a variety of virtues, moral and intellectual, and has consequently to contend with the problem of their occasionally being disconnected from one another.

Humility, Listening and ‘Teaching in a Strong Sense’ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
My argument in this paper is that humility is implied in the concept of teaching, if teaching is construed in a strong sense. Teaching in a strong sense is a view of teaching as linked to students’ embodied experiences (including cognitive and moral ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Real‐World Performance of CSF Kappa Free Light Chains in the 2024 McDonald Criteria

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Kappa free light chains (KFLCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have a similar performance to CSF‐restricted oligoclonal bands (OCB) for multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. To help with implementation, we set out to resolve several remaining uncertainties: (1) performance in a real‐world cohort and the 2024 McDonald criteria; (2 ...

Intellectual Integrity as Intellectual Virtue

open access: yesSiberian Journal of Philosophy, 2020
In this paper, I examine intellectual integrity as one of the possible intellectual virtues. I also try to investigate the opposite notion, intellectual dishonesty. I conclude that intellectual dishonesty does not necessarily entail dishonesty in the moral sense, but just presupposes that an agent has her interest in a certain outcome of her research ...
