From Intelligent Agents to Intelligent Beings
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2007This paper puts forward a novel concept: the intelligent being. Intelligent agents emphasize action and decision-making, which is strongly reflected in the results of agent research. However, real-world applications require much more than decision-making and the intelligent being addresses a crucial part of this: reflecting reality into the agent world.

International journal of intelligent defence support systems, 2009
The quantity of information/data in the world is increasing exponentially. This is no longer the question of quantity, but how to find and deliver them, in order to make them useful to the user. Information is getting more difficult to locate, gather, filter, evaluate and integrate.

Evolutionary intelligent agents
Proceedings of the 2000 Congress on Evolutionary Computation. CEC00 (Cat. No.00TH8512), 2002Evolutionary intelligent agents (EIA) are intelligent agents provided with a genotype that controls their capabilities to carry out various tasks, i.e., their phenotype. EIA are a cognitive and genetically controlled version of ants and bees, with links to both artificial intelligence and neural networks.

Agents, Intelligence and Tools
2009This chapter investigates the relationship among agent intelligence, environment and the use of tools. To this end, we first survey, organise and relate many relevant approaches in the literature, coming from both within and without the fields of artificial intelligence and computer science.

Intelligent Software Agents and Multi-Agent Systems
2009Agent-based systems are one of the most important and exciting areas of research and development that emerged in information technology (IT) in the past two decades. In a nutshell, an agent is a computer program that is capable of performing a flexible, autonomous action in typically dynamic and unpredictable domains (Luck, McBurney, Shehory, & ...
