The Role of Lightning in Atmospheric Chemistry

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 16, 28 August 2026.
Abstract Lightning has important effects on atmospheric constituents in primarily the middle and upper troposphere. We summarize the effects of lightning on atmospheric chemistry that have been published since the last major review in 2007. The estimates of NOx production by lightning (LNOx) are based on five methods: theoretical/laboratory estimates ...

Visual measurement network for intelligent cockpit driving state combining lightweight temporal convolution and cross-granularity state mapping

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering
The actual deployment of driver monitoring system (DMS) is still limited by the limited edge computing resources and the sudden risk transition caused by discrete state classification. To this end, this study proposes LTC-CGMN, a lightweight driver state

Driver Behavior Modeling with Subjective Risk‐Driven Inverse Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2026.
A subjective risk‐driven inverse reinforcement learning framework is proposed to model driver decision‐making. It infers drivers' risk perception and risk tolerance from driving data. A learnable risk threshold is used to regulate decisions, enabling interpretable and human‐like driving behavior decisions.

Automotive Cockpit-Driving Integration for Human-Centric Autonomous Driving:A Survey [PDF]

open access: yes
Intelligent driving aims to handle dynamic driving tasks in complex environments, while driver behavior onboard is less focused. In contrast, an intelligent cockpit mainly focuses on interacting with a driver, with limited connection to the driving ...

Automation and Augmentation in Theological Perspective

open access: yesModern Theology, Volume 42, Issue 3, Page 612-628, July 2026.
Abstract AI enables forms of automation that threaten unemployment and deskilling, eliminating important opportunities for the development of virtue. The concomitant loss of virtue and meaningful employment makes it a theological problem from the perspective of Catholic social teaching and theological anthropology.

Flight Training Success in Technologically Advanced Aircraft (TAA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The introduction of glass cockpit aircraft to general aviation has received great interest from researchers over the past few years. However, little information is available on the actual effects of this transition on training syllabus completion.
