Energy Management Integrated Circuit for Multi-Source Energy Harvesters in WBAN Applications

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
This paper presents an energy management integrated circuit for multiple energy harvesters in wireless body area network applications. The electrical power acquired from a single energy harvester around a human body is limited to micro watts, which is ...

Work domain analysis and intelligent transport systems: Implications for vehicle design

open access: yes, 2007
This article presents a Work Domain Analysis (WDA) of the road transport system in Victoria, Australia. A series of driver information requirements and tasks that could potentially be supported through the use of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are ...

A study of whiplash injury occurrence mechanisms using human head-neck finite element model (Analysis of factors for reproducing the early head-neck behaviors in rear impact)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
The number of whiplash injuries worldwide is at a high level. From the mid-1990s, many researchers have focused into the head-neck S-shaped mode deformation behavior in early rear impacts.

Low-Power, High Data-Rate Digital Capsule Endoscopy Using Human Body Communication

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
A technology for low-power high data-rate digital capsule endoscopy with human body communication (CEHBC) is presented in this paper. To transfer the image data stably with low power consumption, the proposed system uses three major schemes: Frequency ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Reformed theology and natural science – Conflict or concurrence?

open access: yesIn die Skriflig, 2020
Atheistic natural scientists propagate a normative materialistic view of the universe, where God as creator is superfluous. Much effort is being expended to bring into disrepute any notion of extraneous control over the laws of nature.

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Empiricism and Intelligent Design II: Analyzing Intelligent Design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
If intelligent design (ID) is to compete with evolutionary theory (ET), it must meet the modified falsifiability challenge, that is, make some deductive or probabilistic observational assertions.
