Segmentation of ultrasound B-mode images with intensity inhomogeneity correction

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2002
Displayed ultrasound (US) B-mode images often exhibit tissue intensity inhomogeneities dominated by nonuniform beam attenuation within the body. This is a major problem for intensity-based, automatic segmentation of video-intensity images because conventional threshold-based or intensity-statistic-based approaches do not work well in the presence of ...

Artificial Intelligence‐Assisted Workflow for Transmission Electron Microscopy: From Data Analysis Automation to Materials Knowledge Unveiling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
AI‐Assisted Workflow for (Scanning) Transmission Electron Microscopy: From Data Analysis Automation to Materials Knowledge Unveiling. Abstract (Scanning) transmission electron microscopy ((S)TEM) has significantly advanced materials science but faces challenges in correlating precise atomic structure information with the functional properties of ...

Entropy based method to correct intensity inhomogeneity in MR images.

open access: yes, 2004
We are involved in a comprehensive program to characterize atherosclerotic disease using multiple MR images having different contrast mechanisms (T1W, T2W, PDW, magnetization transfer, etc.) of human carotid and animal model arteries.

Intensity Inhomogeneity Correction of Macular OCT using N3 and Retinal Flatspace

open access: yes, 2016
As optical coherence tomography (OCT) has increasingly become a standard modality for imaging the retina, automated algorithms for processing OCT data have become necessary to do large scale studies looking for changes in specific layers.

Role of Liquid Composition in the Transient Liquid Assisted Growth of Superconducting YBa2Cu3O7‐δ Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The Y supersaturation in the [Ba‐Cu(I/II)‐O] transient liquid composition is the driving force toward YBCO nucleation and growth in TLAG. Tuning the initial (Ba:Cu) molar ratio in the ink composition determines the YBCO epitaxial nucleation through supersaturation control.

Improvements on the planning and delivery of intensity-modulated arc therapy

open access: yes, 2010
In the past decade, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) has taken a significant step towards dose conformality and has now become a standard radiotherapy technique in the clinic.

Resolving Inhomogeneity Using Lifetime-Weighted Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2016
Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) was extended by incorporating information of the fluorescence lifetime. This new experimental approach, called lifetime-weighted FCS, enables us to observe fluorescence lifetime fluctuations in the nano- to ...

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Effect of relaxation processes on stark echo intensity in the presence of nonresonant laser pulses with spatial inhomogeneity

open access: yes, 2020
We have studied the dependence of the intensity and appearance time of the Stark echo response on the ratio of the field strengths of nonresonant laser pulses with spatial inhomogeneity.

Segmentation of fluorescence microscopy images using three dimensional active contours with inhomogeneity correction

open access: yes, 2017
Image segmentation is an important step in the quantitative analysis of fluorescence microscopy data. Since fluorescence microscopy volumes suffer from intensity inhomogeneity, low image contrast and limited depth resolution, poor edge details, and ...
