This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Probes of new physics at the intensity and energy frontiers [PDF]
In this thesis, we review the basics of phenomenology in particle physics at neutrino beam dump experiments and hadron colliders. We then consider the phenomenology of various new particles, with masses between 1 MeV and 1 TeV, at the intensity and ...

Self-Trapping of Light Using the Pancharatnam-Berry Phase
Since its introduction by Berry in 1984, the geometric phase has become of fundamental importance in physics, with applications ranging from solid-state physics to optics. In optics, the Pancharatnam-Berry phase allows the tailoring of optical beams by a

Consistency of seismic hazard estimates from a physics-based earthquake simulator: a case study in south-eastern Spain [PDF]
Estimating seismic hazard is crucial for enhancing societal resilience and risk mitigation strategies. Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA) is the current standard framework, traditionally relying on empirical earthquake rupture forecasts (ERFs ...

Physics of Intensity Dependent Beam Instabilities
This book provides a comprehensive treatment of intensity dependent particle beam instabilities in accelerating rings. Written for researchers, the material is also suitable for use as a textbook in an advanced graduate course for students studying accelerator physics. The presentation starts with a brief review of the basic concept of wake potentials ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.
