Optimized Lane Assignment Using Inter-Vehicle Communication

This paper presents an approach to lane assignment for highway vehicles that increases traffic throughput while ensuring they exit successfully at their destinations. Most of current traffic management systems do not consider lane organization of vehicles and only regulate traffic flows by controlling traffic signals or ramp meters.
