Spontaneous bodily coordination varies across affective and intellectual child-adult interactions

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Research on child-adult interactions has identified that the morphology of bodily coordination seems to be sensitive to age and type of interaction. Mirror-like imitation emerges earlier in life and is more common during emotionally laden interactions ...

Combined phylogenetic and geographic data can predict plant–pest interactions with high accuracy

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Schematic overview of the study pipeline. Summary Non‐native plant pests can pose major threats to biodiversity, with destructive ecological and economic consequences. The ability to predict future threats would allow limited resources to be concentrated on managing the most serious risks. We built a Bayesian model to predict hosts at risk from Agrilus,

Which, when, and where traits matter: functional trait‐mediated species associations shift with microenvironmental and climatic variation

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Community‐level fitted relationship between spatial association Lij and trait dissimilarity (tDij) at the fine spatial scale (r = 40 mm; where r represents the radius around individuals of the focal species). Summary Predicting coexistence in species‐rich plant communities requires understanding the role of functional traits in species interactions and

Compliance in Regulatory Gray Areas: The Case of the Organic Seed Standard

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Adaptive regulations, designed to balance flexibility with accountability, can embed provisions that unintentionally leave room for firms to shirk on their responsibilities by exploiting flexibility. We call these provisions “regulatory gray areas,” and ask: how should we understand (non‐)compliance in adaptive regulatory settings?

Emotion and the Advocacy Coalition Framework: An Affective Dynamics Perspective

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, Volume 54, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite extensive evidence that emotion and cognition are deeply intertwined, the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF) lacks an analytically independent emotional mechanism in its causal architecture—an omission that may be particularly consequential in policy subsystems structured around morally charged, identity‐laden policy disputes.

Laws, Enforcement, and Strategy: A Multi‐Layered Qualitative Study of Multinational Enterprise Compliance Under European Union and Chinese Data Protection Regimes

open access: yesPolicy &Internet, Volume 18, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In an era of proliferating but divergent data protection regimes, the European Union's rights‐based approach and China's sovereignty‐centric model have become two dominant poles of global data governance. This article examines how multinational enterprises navigate compliance under these dual systems and how that compliance is shaped through ...

Impact of parameterization in multiple acoustic index comparisons: practical cases in terrestrial and underwater soundscapes

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, Volume 12, Issue 3, Page 388-400, June 2026.
Parameter choices in acoustic analyses (sampling frequency, FFT size and window overlap) strongly influence multivariate soundscape separation. Using terrestrial and coral reef recordings, we show that these settings can exaggerate or mask ecological differences, emphasizing the need for parameter sensitivity testing and transparent reporting in ...

Landscape forest cover, not edge contrast, modulates edge effects on palm diversity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 6, June 2026.
Our findings demonstrate that landscape forest cover plays a critical role in modulating edge effects in plant communities in our study system, but not all woody crops systems provide buffering benefits, as cacao plantations in our study failed to soften edge effects.
