Model calculations are performed of extensive air shower (EAS) component energies using a variety of hadronic interaction parameters. A conversion factor from electromagnetic component energy to the energy of ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) and ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

SWI/SNF-type complexes–transcription factor interplay: a key regulatory interaction
ATP-dependent switch/sucrose nonfermenting-type chromatin remodeling complexes (SWI/SNF CRCs) are multiprotein machineries altering chromatin structure, thus controlling the accessibility of genomic DNA to various regulatory proteins including ...

Spin and Charge Structure Factor of the 2-d Hubbard Model
The spin and charge structure factors are calculated for the Hubbard model on the square lattice near half-filling using a spin-rotation invariant six-slave boson representation. The charge structure factor shows a broad maximum at the zone corner and is

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Impact of Electron-Electron Cusp on Configuration Interaction Energies
The effect of the electron-electron cusp on the convergence of configuration interaction (CI) wave functions is examined. By analogy with the pseudopotential approach for electron-ion interactions, an effective electron-electron interaction is developed ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Quasiparticle interaction in nuclear matter with chiral three-nucleon forces
We derive the effective interaction between two quasiparticles in symmetric nuclear matter resulting from the leading-order chiral three-nucleon force. We restrict our study to the L=0,1 Landau parameters of the central quasiparticle interaction computed
