Publisher Correction: Triparental plants provide direct evidence for polyspermy induced polyploidy

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
This Article contained errors in Fig. 3 that were brought to our attention by the authors during the production process but, inadvertently, were not corrected before publication.

OrfX, a Nucleomodulin Required for Listeria monocytogenes Virulence

open access: yesmBio, 2017
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterial pathogen causing severe foodborne infections in humans and animals. Listeria can enter into host cells and survive and multiply therein, due to an arsenal of virulence determinants encoded in different loci on the ...

A prophage tail-like protein is deployed by Burkholderia bacteria to feed on fungi

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Some bacteria can feed on live fungi through unclear mechanisms. Here, the authors show that a T3SS-secreted protein, which is homologous to phage tail proteins, allows a Burkholderia gladioli strain to kill and feed on various fungal species.

INTERACTING INTERSECTIONS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 1998
Intersecting p-branes can be viewed as higher-dimensional interpretations of multicharge extremal p-branes, where some of the individual p-branes undergo diagonal dimensional oxidation, while the others oxidize vertically. Although the naive vertical oxidation of a single p-brane gives a continuum of p-branes, a more natural description arises if one ...

Photon-Neutrino Interactions

open access: yes, 2004
We discuss the interaction of photons with neutrinos including two lepton loops. The parity violation in the gamma-nu to gamma-nu channel due to two lepton loops is substantially enhanced relative to the one lepton loop contribution.

Multiparton Interactions and Rescattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The concept of multiple partonic interactions in hadronic events is vital for the understanding of both minimum-bias and underlying-event physics. The area is rather little studied, however, and current models offer a far from complete coverage, even of ...

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...
