This study matched physiology and anatomical subregions in the chicken inferior colliculus. We found neural topographies for binaural sound localization cues, but, in contrast to the well‐studied barn owl, there was no distinct differentiation of responses in the different subregions.

Binaural reverberation using a modified Jot reverberator with frequency- dependent interaural coherence matching [PDF]
An extension of the Jot reverberator is presented, producing binaural late reverberation where the interaural coherence can be controlled as a function of frequency such that it matches the frequency-dependent interaural coherence of a reference binaural

Models of binaural hearing for sound lateralisation and localisation
The current study suggests two models of binaural hearing, which aim to make predictions for inside- and outside-head localisation of a single sound source in the horizontal plane.

The perception of movement in the auditory modality requires dynamic changes in the input that reaches the two ears (e.g. sequential changes of interaural time differences; dynamic ITDs). However, it is still unclear as to what extent these temporal cues interact with other interaural cues to determine successful movement perception, and which brain ...

Ways in which coherence is confirmation conducive [PDF]
Recent works in epistemology show that the claim that coherence is truth conducive – in the sense that, given suitable ceteris paribus conditions, more coherent sets of statements are always more probable – is dubious and possibly false.

The Mammalian Interaural Time Difference Detection Circuit Is Differentially Controlled by GABAB Receptors during Development [PDF]
Throughout development GABAB receptors (GABABRs) are widely expressed in the mammalian brain. In mature auditory brainstem neurons, GABABRs are involved in the short-term regulation of the strength and dynamics of excitatory and inhibitory inputs, thus ...

Similar Impacts of the Interaural Delay and Interaural Correlation on Binaural Gap Detection. [PDF]
The subjective representation of the sounds delivered to the two ears of a human listener is closely associated with the interaural delay and correlation of these two-ear sounds. When the two-ear sounds, e.g., arbitrary noises, arrive simultaneously, the

Factors affecting the use of envelope interaural time differences in reverberation
At high frequencies, interaural time differences (ITDs) are conveyed by the sound envelope. Sensitivity to envelope ITDs depends crucially on the envelope shape. Reverberation degrades the envelope shape, reducing the modulation depth of the envelope and

Convergent input from brainstem coincidence detectors onto delay-sensitive neurons in the inferior colliculus. [PDF]
Responses of low-frequency neurons in the inferior colliculus (IC) of anesthetized guinea pigs were studied with binaural beats to assess their mean best interaural phase (BP) to a range of stimulating frequencies.
