Distinct electrophysiology and dopaminergic modulation of medium spiny neurons across divisions of the tail striatum and the dorsolateral striatum

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 10, Page 4827-4851, 1 October 2026.
Abstract The striatum is a brain region within the basal ganglia that plays a crucial role in generating behaviour and mediating perception. The tail striatum (TS) is a poorly understood striatal domain with predominantly sensory functions. Recent evidence supports that abnormal TS dopamine transmission in dopaminergic disease contributes to sensory ...

Noise reduction of coincidence detector output by the inferior colliculus of the barn owl [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A recurring theme in theoretical work is that integration over populations of similarly tuned neurons can reduce neural noise. However, there are relatively few demonstrations of an explicit noise reduction mechanism in a neural network.

Intact Visual Correlation Detection in Autistic Adults

open access: yesAutism Research, Volume 19, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The ability to detect recurring temporal co‐occurrence, or temporal correlation, of sensory events is fundamental for organizing perceptual input into coherent representations. Although past work has revealed differences across several aspects of temporal processing in autism, it is unknown whether autistic and non‐autistic individuals differ ...

A Pilot Study Evaluating the Effect of Artesunate on Glymphatic‐Related Fluid Transport in Parkinson's Disease Mouse Models In Vivo and Ex Vivo

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
Artesunate (ART) treatment was associated with enhanced glymphatic CSF‐ISF exchange in both wild‐type (WT) and A53T mouse models of Parkinson's disease, with regional differences observed by dynamic MRI. In A53T mice, ART was associated with restoration of AQP4 polarization and reduced α‐syn levels in the SN.

Localization of Virtual Sound Source Reproduced by the Crosstalk Cancellation System Under Different Reflective Conditions

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics
This study explores the localization of virtual sound source reproduced by the crosstalk cancellation system under different reflective conditions in virtual rooms and analyzes the localization results with binaural cues. Binaural room impulse responses

Frequency dependence of the interaural time difference thresholds in human listeners [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
[EN] Interaural time difference (ITD) thresholds for sine tones were measured as a function of frequency with unprecedented resolution along the frequency axis. The tone level was 70 dB SPL, and the method was a two¿interval forced¿choice, three¿down one¿

Auditory localization: a comprehensive practical review

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Auditory localization is a fundamental ability that allows to perceive the spatial location of a sound source in the environment. The present work aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the mechanisms and acoustic cues used by the human perceptual ...

Effects of Asymmetric Auditory Deprivation in Sequential Cochlear Implant

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Volume 175, Issue 3, Page 672-681, September 2026.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the influence of auditory deprivation on sequential cochlear implants in postlingual patients, comparing the ear with shorter deprivation (ESAD), longer deprivation (ELAD), and the bilateral condition (BIL). Study design Retrospective study. Setting A tertiary referral center.
