Modeling cell intercalation duringDrosophilagermband extension
Germband extension during Drosophila development is primarily driven by cell intercalation, which involves three key components: planar cell polarity, anisotropic myosin contractile forces on cellular junctions, and cellular deformation and movement. Prior experimental work probed each of these factors in depth, but the connection between them remains ...

Bio‐Friendly Artificial Muscles Based on Carbon Nanotube Yarns and Eutectogel Derivatives
Solid‐state artificial muscles based on coiled commercial carbon nanotube yarns coated with eutectogel derivatives exhibit unipolar actuation through selective ion intercalation. Combining polyanionic and polycationic gels enables enhanced contractile stroke and high energy density.

Mechanisms of convergence and extension by cell intercalation
The cells of many embryonic tissues actively narrow in one dimension (convergence) and lengthen in the perpendicular dimension (extension). Convergence and extension are ubiquitous and important tissue movements in metazoan morphogenesis. In vertebrates, the dorsal axial and paraxial mesodermal tissues, the notochordal and somitic mesoderm, converge ...

The disordered growth of dendrites, corrosion, parasitic side reactions, slow de‐solvation kinetics, and inherent safety risks significantly hinder the practical deployment of conventional liquid electrolyte zinc‐ion batteries. In contrast, the novel PU‐EG+DMPA‐Zn polyurethane quasi‐solid‐state electrolyte, enriched with abundant polar functional ...

Intercalated Duct Cells in the Chicken Pancreatic Islet
Intercalated duct cells are present in the alpha and beta islets of the chicken pancreas. The intercalated duct cells adhere to each other via intercellular junctional complexes at the apical side, projecting many microvilli and a few of cilia into the lumen.

Cellular, molecular, and biophysical control of epithelial cell intercalation [PDF]
Convergent extension is a conserved mechanism for elongating tissues. In the Drosophila embryo, convergent extension is driven by planar polarized cell intercalation and is a paradigm for understanding the cellular, molecular, and biophysical mechanisms that establish tissue structure.

Operando hard X‐ray absorption spectroscopy is applied to track the dynamic and interactive metal oxidation changes in iron group bimetallic hydroxides under different chemical and electrochemical conditions. It shows that Co and Fe oxidation are relatively equal and synchronized in CoFeOxHy.
