Adaptive 4D‐Printed Vascular Stents With Low‐Temperature‐Activated and Intelligent Deployment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microarchitected coronary artery stents were fabricated using a polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based shape memory polymer (SMP) composite via projection micro‐stereolithography (PµSL) 4D printing. By incorporating diethyl phthalate (DEP) as a plasticizer, the thermal transition temperature (Ttran) was modulated to about 37°C, enabling rapid and autonomous ...

What have we learned from two-pore potassium channels? Their molecular configuration and function in the human heart [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Two-pore domain potassium channels (K2P) control excitability, stabilize the resting membrane potential below firing threshold, and accelerate repolarisation in different cells.

Impact of Lattice Heterogeneity on Broadband Optical Retardation in Stacked 2D Perovskite Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that interfaces between organic and inorganic layers govern long‐range stacking disorder and in‐plane anisotropy in 2D metal‐halide perovskites. By comparing single‐cation AB‐AB and ordered mixed‐cation ABCD‐ABCD stackings, SCXRD reveals enhanced mosaicity, while optics confirm high birefringence.

Electronic excitation spectrum of doped organic thin films investigated using electron energy-loss spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2015
The electronic excitation spectra of undoped, and potassium as well as calcium doped phenantrene-type hydrocarbons have been investigated using electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) in transmission.

Distribution of costameric proteins in normal human ventricular and atrial cardiac muscle.

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2010
In the mature heart, the intercalated disc and costameres provide the cell-cell and cell-matrix junctions respectively. Intercalated disc is situated at the bipolar ends of the cardiomyocytes and the myofibrils are anchored at this structure.

Electron-phonon interaction in Graphite Intercalation Compounds

open access: yes, 2007
Motivated by the recent discovery of superconductivity in Ca- and Yb-intercalated graphite (CaC$_{6}$ and YbC$_{6}$) and from the ongoing debate on the nature and role of the interlayer state in this class of compounds, in this work we critically study ...

Engineering Relative Spatial Structure of Dual Atomic Sites with Asymmetric Coordination for High‐Performance Hydrogen Evolution Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dual‐atom catalysts featuring varying spatial configurations of metal sites (Pt1Fe1 DACs) are employed to systematically investigate the influence of spatial arrangements on the electronic structure and catalytic activity of active sites. Notably, the 3D asymmetric Pt1Fe1‐TAC dimer, featuring strong interatomic interactions, demonstrates superior ...
